Auctioneer's Note: Wopko Jensma was a South African artist and poet. For a time, he lived in Botswana with his wife and children, as apartheid laws prohibiting interracial relationships made it difficult for them to remain in South Africa. His work often criticised the apartheid regime. After his divorce, he returned to South Africa and settled in Johannesburg. Jensma suffered from schizophrenia and disappeared in 1993; his fate remains unknown.
