Provenance: by descent, the tridarn is originally from Llwyn Idris, Brynsiencyn (Ynys Mon / Anglesey) and belonged to the occupant and one of the most powerful Methodist figures, Reverend John Williams (1854-1921), and consigned by Reverend Williams' great-grandson now living in France. The tridarn has been in France for around 30 years. Reverend Williams was known as 'Lloyd George's Chaplin' and was well known for his role in recruiting men to the First World War. Coincidentally, in 2016, this auction house sold a canteen of silver cutlery which was also formerly owned by Reverend Williams Anglesey minister called 'Lloyd George's chaplain' silver goes up for auction - North Wales Live
